The long and weary road

"...It's a reasonably busy highway.  You can see approaching cars and trucks some way off.  A shadowy image will appear in the heat haze.  As it moves closer, it starts to focus into shape until it's possible to make out what kind of vehicle it is.  None of the drivers gives me so much as a curious look.  Why should they be bothered about me. They've all got their own business to attend to..."
